Kathmandu- Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) lawmaker Gyanendra Shahi has questioned how young people can become responsible citizens if they do not understand the responsibilities of the Prime Minister.
He made the remarks while warning against the culture of personality worship and blind loyalty, which he claimed has historically led to incidents such as those in Bhadra 23–24. In a social media post, he wrote, “How can young people become responsible citizens if they do not understand the responsibilities of the Prime Minister? The culture of personality worship and blind loyalty has led to incidents like those of Bhadra 23–24 in history.”
Shahi further stated that when Parliament is weakened, democracy becomes weak; when democracy weakens, the voice of the people is suppressed. According to him, a weakened public voice also leads to weakened development and governance.
“When Parliament becomes weak, democracy becomes weak, and when democracy becomes weak, the voice of the people becomes weak. When the voice of the people becomes weak, development weakens and governance weakens,” he added.
