Mid-Valley Inter-School Grand Science Exhibition Organized, 67 Schools Participating

Bhaktapur – Mid Valley Secondary School and College has organized the second Inter-School Science and Information Technology Exhibition 2082. The exhibition, held on the college premises at Madhyapur Thimi, showcases 93 devices and materials created by students from 67 schools across the Kathmandu Valley.

The exhibition will run for two days on Mangsir 11 and 12, with a target of attracting more than 10,000 student visitors. On the very first day, over 4,000 students observed the exhibition.

Students from various schools have displayed a range of devices and materials highlighting innovative experiments in science and information technology, including Smart City models, Water Systems, Water Pollution models, Smart Homes, and more.

Chief guest Prof. Dr. Rameshwor Adhikari stated that such programs not only provide theoretical knowledge but also enhance practical understanding and inspire students to explore science and technology.

He said, “Such programs need to be organized not only in urban areas but also in rural schools and colleges. The government must prioritize exhibitions like these. Although the Ministry of Education has prioritized the field of science and technology, special plans must be introduced to strengthen students’ practical knowledge. It is essential to prepare the future generation to be capable in science and technology.”

Ratna Katuwal, Head of the Education Division of Suryabinayak Municipality, said that young students showcased everyday-use devices in an innovative manner. He emphasized the need for Mid Valley and other schools to organize such exhibitions and encouraged students from various schools to participate and learn from them.

Similarly, Kamal Aryal, Director of Mid Valley College, said that the exhibition was organized to enhance students' creativity and place special focus on practical education. He mentioned that last year’s exhibition had a positive impact on students, and even inspired Suryabinayak Municipality to plan a municipality-level exhibition. He added that students participating in this exhibition created more innovative science and IT devices than expected.

The college stated that three school teams producing the best devices and one team receiving the highest number of votes will be awarded. The first-place winner will receive Rs. 30,000, the second-place Rs. 20,000, and the third-place Rs. 10,000.

Mid Valley College also mentioned that it will continue organizing such activities in the coming days to further encourage students toward research and innovation.
