Kathmandu - Bagmati Province Chief Minister and President of the Nepali Congress Bagmati Province Committee, Indra Bahadur Baniya, has said that making the goods transportation sector organized and efficient is a key necessity of the state.

Addressing the 11th Annual General Meeting of the Kathmandu Goods Transport Entrepreneurs Association as the chief guest, Chief Minister Baniya emphasized the need for coordination among all concerned stakeholders to make the transportation business more effective.

He stated that inefficiencies in the transportation system force the country to face serious difficulties, urging even local governments to actively engage in the implementation and improvement of this sector. Chief Minister Baniya also informed that the provincial government has decided to provide tax exemptions in the current fiscal year for vehicles that were completely damaged during the Gen-Z movement.

“Across the world, when transportation systems are ineffective, countries are compelled to face numerous challenges,” Baniya said. “Conversely, an efficient transportation system enables us to move forward toward a quality life and prosperity. Therefore, the transportation business is an important, essential, and indispensable sector for the nation. The problems faced by this sector must be addressed one by one.”

Speaking on the occasion, Association President Pushparaj Shrestha described the transportation business as the backbone of the national economy. He said the association has been working with the objective of delivering goods to customers on time and efficiently, including in remote and rural areas, while also giving special emphasis to social service activities.
