Kathmandu - Laxman Poudel (Andrew) has been elected President of the Education Consultancy Association of Nepal (ECAN). Poudel secured 341 votes, defeating his closest rival Deepak Raj Bhusal, who received 257 votes.
In the vice-presidential race, Basudev Dahal (308 votes), Bikalpa Raj Pokhrel (294 votes), and Gita Shivakoti (292 votes) emerged victorious. Among them, Pokhrel represents the Bhusal group, while Dahal and Shivakoti are from the Poudel group.
Bhawanath Humagain from the Bhusal panel was elected General Secretary with 403 votes, defeating Navaraj K.C. of the Poudel panel, who received 190 votes.
Both Secretary positions were won by candidates from the Bhusal group. Suraj Silwal secured 416 votes, while Ashik Karki received 353 votes. In the Treasurer position, Sadhana Pudasaini from the Poudel panel won with 327 votes, defeating Uma Khadka of the Bhusal group, who received 268 votes. Govinda Khanal was elected Joint Treasurer with 411 votes, while his rival Bhim Bahadur Thapa secured 178 votes.
Nine members were elected to the executive committee: Anant Raj Ghimire (416 votes), Uddav Ban (412), Bibek Basnet (402), Damodar Sharma Nyaupane (378), Ashok Kumar Hathi (332), Dinesh Poudel (314), Sanjiv Pandey (314), Shiva Prasad Aryal (308), and Kamal Prasad Timilsina (305).
Suraj Silwal and Anant Raj Ghimire were declared “Men of the Election” after each secured the highest number of votes—416. Both candidates belong to the Bhusal panel.
