Kathmandu – The Supreme Court has issued an interim order directing that notices and schedules for student admissions be published only after the academic session has officially begun.
On Friday, the bench led by Justice Balkrishna Dhakal instructed that admission-related notices and programs should be issued and implemented only after the academic session starts from Baisakh 1.
Earlier, the Education Development and Human Resource Center, Sanothimi had issued a notice on Baisakh 5, directing that the admission process should begin only after the annual examinations are conducted and results published, and the new academic session 2083 has officially started.
The order stated, “Recent documents attached with the case indicate that admission notices were published in various print and electronic media despite students’ exam results not being released, the academic session not having started, and required official certificates for admission, as per Rule 78 (1)(ga) of the Education Regulations, 2059, not having been obtained. Therefore, in accordance with Rule 78(1) and Rule 84(4) of the Education Regulations, 2059, admission notices and programs should be published and conducted only after the certificates are obtained and the academic session has begun, ensuring uniformity. Accordingly, an interim order has been issued in the names of the respondents.”
Under this order, schools are required to follow the regulations strictly before publishing any student admission notices.
