Kathmandu- Nepal’s Ambassador to Thailand Dhan Bahadur Oli held a meeting on Thursday with Urasa Mongkolnavin, who heads the Department of South Asia, Middle East and Africa Affairs at Thailand’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

During the meeting, both sides expressed satisfaction over the close and friendly relations between Nepal and Thailand and discussed ways to further strengthen bilateral cooperation in areas such as trade, investment, tourism, culture, agriculture, and education, according to the Nepal Embassy in Bangkok.

The two sides also reviewed the implementation status of eight Memorandums of Understanding signed between Nepal and Thailand last year, emphasizing the need for effective execution of the agreements. Discussions were also held on finalizing proposed agreements on agricultural cooperation and mutual legal assistance in criminal matters at the earliest.

They further exchanged views on organizing the upcoming meeting of the Nepal–Thailand Joint Consultation Mechanism in Nepal at a mutually convenient time.

Both sides highlighted the importance of enhancing trade complementarity by strengthening value chains between Nepali and Thai products and promoting value addition through the integration of Himalayan and maritime resources.

The discussions also included easing visa procedures, improving tourism services, and strengthening cooperation in information and intelligence sharing to combat human trafficking, money laundering, and cybercrime.

Additionally, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing cooperation in regional and multilateral forums and supporting each other’s candidacies in international platforms.
