Kathmandu – On the first trading day of the week, Monday, the NEPSE declined by 13.17 points. After a mild recovery in the previous session, both the index and trading volume saw a significant drop on this day.
According to the Nepal Stock Exchange, the benchmark index closed at 2,825.23 points. On the same day, the Sensitive Index fell by 3.21 points, the Float Index by 1.19 points, and the Sensitive Float Index by 1.23 points.
A total of 349 companies were traded in 116,310 transactions, exchanging 11.65 million shares worth NPR 5.43 billion. In comparison, the previous Friday’s turnover had exceeded NPR 7.46 billion.
Despite the overall decline, some companies posted strong gains. Shares of Surya Kund Hydro Electric, Hotel Forest Inn, Palpa Cement, and Shikhar Power Development hit a 15 percent upper circuit. Similarly, shares of Jhapa Energy rose by around 12 percent, while Rize Line Energy increased by 11 percent.
On the downside, Dolti Power Company recorded the highest drop, falling by 5.35 percent. In terms of turnover, Solu Hydropower led the market with transactions worth over NPR 360.1 million, followed by National Hydropower Company with shares worth more than NPR 285 million.
Out of the 13 sub-indices traded on Monday, only the Hotel and Tourism sub-index posted a gain of 1.01 percent, while the remaining 12 sub-indices closed in negative territory.
