Imports Worth Rs 694 Billion Through Birgunj Checkpoint in 9 Months; Revenue Collection Reaches Rs 177 Billion

Goods worth Rs 694.05 billion were imported through the Birgunj Customs Point during the first nine months of the current fiscal year.

According to the Birgunj Customs Office, this figure is Rs 80.44 billion, or about 13 percent, higher compared to the same period in the previous fiscal year. In the corresponding nine months last year, imports totaled Rs 613.61 billion.

Information Officer Uday Singh Bista stated that import activities through the checkpoint have increased significantly this year.

Among the major imported commodities, petroleum products (five types) accounted for Rs 148.16 billion, up from Rs 140.10 billion in the same period last year.

Similarly, imports included iron and iron products worth Rs 62.26 billion, crude soybean oil worth Rs 50.40 billion, machinery and parts worth Rs 49.13 billion, and electrical machinery and equipment worth Rs 34.19 billion.

All of these key import categories have shown growth compared to last year.

Meanwhile, the customs office reported that revenue collection from the Birgunj checkpoint reached Rs 177.66 billion during the nine-month period of the current fiscal year.
