India Prime Minister Narendra Modi has strongly condemned the shooting incident that took place in Washington D.C., calling for a clear denunciation of violence in democratic societies.
Following the incident at the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner held at the Washington Hilton Hotel, Modi expressed relief after learning that President Donald Trump, First Lady Melania Trump, and Vice President JD Vance were safe.
In a social media post, he stated that democracy has no place for violence and such incidents must be unequivocally condemned. He also extended his wishes for the continued safety and well-being of all those involved.
The incident occurred on Saturday evening during the dinner event, when approximately 7 to 8 gunshots were reportedly heard. Following the gunfire, the Secret Service immediately evacuated President Trump, the First Lady, and other senior officials to a secure location.
