Trump Expresses Discontent Over Iran’s Peace Proposal, Says Nuclear Issue Overlooked

Tuesday, April 28 2026

U.S. President Donald Trump has reportedly expressed dissatisfaction with Iran’s latest peace proposal, according to American media reports.

Citing White House officials, U.S. media stated that the proposal primarily focuses on opening the Strait of Hormuz and ending U.S. military restrictions on Iranian ports, while failing to address the nuclear issue—raising concerns in Washington.

President Trump is said to have discussed the proposal with senior officials during a meeting at the White House on Monday.

According to sources cited by CNN, Trump is unlikely to accept the proposal in its current form.

The The New York Times reported, quoting officials, that accepting the proposal as it stands would undermine Trump’s long-standing position that Iran must not develop nuclear weapons.

In an interview with Fox News, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that while Iran’s proposal contains some positive elements, the core priority remains preventing Tehran from developing nuclear weapons.

Earlier, President Trump had emphasized that any peace agreement with Iran would proceed within a set timeframe, adding that there was no pressure for a ceasefire or negotiations.

According to Xinhua News Agency, Trump reiterated that discussions with Iran would continue under his administration’s established conditions.
