India’s Defence Minister Rajnath Singh held a meeting on Tuesday with Chinese Defence Minister Admiral Dong Jun.
The meeting took place on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Defence Ministers Meeting currently being held in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan. During the talks, both sides discussed maintaining peace and stability along the Line of Actual Control (LAC), as well as broader regional security issues, including the crisis in West Asia.
The meeting is being viewed as part of ongoing efforts to improve strained relations between New Delhi and Beijing.
Following the discussion, Singh posted on social media expressing his pleasure at meeting his Chinese counterpart during the SCO Defence Ministers’ meeting in Bishkek.
Both delegations reportedly focused on reducing tensions along the border and addressing regional security challenges through mutual understanding. Analysts see the meeting as a significant step toward normalizing relations between the two neighbouring countries.
